Clinical Data for AVINZA®
AVINZA® (morphine sulfate extended-release capsules) is a modified-release formulation of morphine sulfate indicated for once-daily administration for the relief of moderate to severe pain requiring continuous, around-the-clock opioid therapy for an extended period of time.
AVINZA® is not indicated for postoperative use1-2

| a. | An 8-week, randomized, open-label, multicenter trial (n=132), followed by a 16-week extension (n=79) for the treatment of chronic, moderate to severe low-back pain. Pains aged 30 to 70 years and naïve to sustained-release opioid treatment were randomized to AVINZA® QAM or controlled-release oxycodone HCl BID.2 |
| b. | Pain scores obtained 4 times a day for 7 consecutive days during weeks 1, 4, and 8 were averaged using the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI), a validated, 11-point, visual analog scale (VAS).2 |
